4th of July

I was REALLY looking forward to this 4th of July. Ernie was able to get us tickets to the Padres game including a ticket for the tailgate lot. We started off the holiday with staying up late on Tuesday. We went over to Angie and Armando's house (friends from Taekwondo) and played games late into the night while we watched "Fight Girls." It's actually a pretty cool show kinda like UFC but about women fighters. The coolest part was the women were awesome fighters but still girly and pretty--I think it's cool when female athletes don't have to be all manly. Anyhoo, we stayed up late, which was fun, and then slept in late on Wednesday-also really fun. We started off the day with breakfast. Then headed out to the gym. It was really fun to work out together and we did an awesome leg workout. After that we went shopping around at Nordstroms Rack-a REALLY cool store. I got a few pairs of shorts for a really good deal. It was awesome! After that we stopped by the store to pick up some picnic munchies and then went back home to EAT EAT EAT because we were STARVING. Then we showered and got all cute and drove to the tailgate lot to get our party on!

Every good party needs a self-portrait! Here was our (and many others) source of entertainment for the day. a truck clipped a fire hydrant sending gallons of water shooting into the air. (funny, because the same thing had happend on our street as we were leaving for the game. coincidence? or just our lucky day?) luckily san diego's finest were there to save the day. the police regulated on a man playing in the water, and the firemen were able to shut off the water after getting themselves thoroughly wet. after watching the fiasco, we decided to head to the game. we had 2 extra tickets for really good seats at $60 bucks a pop, so we decided to try and sell them. aparently padres fans don't know a good deal when it comes their way, because we were offering the tickets at a 2 for 1 1-day only holiday special. after trying to make some cash for about 25 minutes, we gave up and left the tickets with a box office attendant to hopefully make someone's day. Turns out we did. a nice couple got the seats and treated us to a beer as thanks. (it felt really good to give someone else such nice seats, as we were pretty grateful ourselves to have the tickets) Check out our awesome view!! The people a few rows in front of us even caught a ball! closest I've ever been to almost getting one. The game was exciting from our seats, even though there was no score most of the game. We sat and enjoyed our beer and pistachios, taking a break to get hot dogs (how very american of us on 4th of july and everything!) After watching countless people walk by with soft serve, we took another break after the 7th inning stretch to get ourselves some. The game ended on an exciting note with bases loaded and a base hit to win the game 1-0. HOORAY!! We were under the impression that they would have fireworks at the game. But we found out in the 6th inning that wasn't the case. So we figured we'd try and catch some on the way home, but a nice parking attendant told us we'd be able to get a great show of the harbor fireworks from the top of the trolley parking lot. So we walked over to the top of the lot and got ready for the show. To our surprise we saw not 1, but 5 shows all over san diego from that view point!! Can't see it, but Ernie is posing in front of the fireworks. All in all, a fantastic and successful 4th of July!
