Brasil Adventures: Day 13

We started off our day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant. It sure made up for the day before!! We ate heartily, because we were not sure what events the day held for us.

We got picked up at 8:30 Brasilian time, which means we didn't get picked up until 9. Our guide took us to the Iguaçu national park.

We decided to go on the "Adventure" trip which was a 4 hour bike/walk/boat ride trip through the jungle. The first 2 hours were biking.

We'd stop periodically for our guide to point out places and things of interest. I really wanted to see a monkey, unfortunately we didn't. It was a great ride, and I was happy to get some exercise since our intentions of going running and doing push-ups and sit-ups to stay in shape never happened. At the end of the ride we stopped to rest and Ernie modeled his helmet hair:

Then we walked a little ways to this tree house where we looked at animals hanging out in the lagoon. We saw alligators, herring, egrets, ducks, and some other native birds. It was really cool and we took some great pictures-but it turns out the pictures aren't really as good as the real thing, so I just left them out of this blog.

This is the rickety bridge we crossed on our way. Ernie tried to swing me off, so on the way back I made him go first!

After the lagoon we hicked back for the boat leg of our trip. We were served lunch on the boat and ate while riding along the beautiful river.

The view was incredible...

But after a few minuets in the cold, we were pretty miserable.

At the end of the boat ride we got out for coffee and then jammed into a jeep which took us back to the beginning. Then our guide drove us back to the main part of the park where you could eat, shop, and walk around to view the waterfalls. Our guide gave us 2 hours to walk around and then he'd pick us up.

Right from the start the views were amazing from the trails. We took what seemed like 100s of pictures.

After we walked right up close we took an elevator up higher to get a view looking down.

We took so many pictures that it would have taken me forever to upload them, so I put them into a slideshow. If you have time take a look-they are amazing!
