Ernie's Black Belt Test Days 2-4

After a very long, very hard-core test Ernie earned his First Degree Black Belt today. He was incredible. I took 150 picture and 2 hours of video almost half of which was just sparring. He was tested on every single technique, kick, punch, form, weapon, and stance (to name a few) starting from White Belt. Here is a very brief pictorial recap of all his hard work:

Stretching and warming up is a key component to a successful test. Nice splits!

Kicks
Inverted Roundhouse
Sidekick
Jump roundhouse
After the second day of testing...looking good and ready to tackle days 3 and 4.
Basics: Front stance downblock
Front stance push block
Front stance Reinforced backfist
Weapons: EscrimaStaff
Nunchucks
Sai
Kendo (Sword)
Take downs
And the big finale: SPARRING

The last hour of the test was different types of sparring. 1 on1, 2 on 1, 3 on 1, continuous, point sparring, (this is with 4 different people who are constantly rotating to stay fresh while Ernie goes without breaks). The sparring session culminated with a 25 minute long sparring match against our instructor, Mr. Canto.

Ernie did amazing and was so deserving of this First Degree Black Belt. He will be presented his official black belt in a special ceremony, so for now he wears his black belt candidate belt (same one I just earned) BLACK side up, indicating that he is a 1st degree.
Don't mess with this guy!

I am so proud!!
