Saturday was September 11, so along with remembering the lives of those lost 9 years ago and our troops fighting overseas, I also had a really nice family and friend day. We started off the morning with some fitness modeling for a friend. It was our "modeling debut" as Ernie called it. Actually, our friend is starting a new business and asked her friends to come get our pictures taken as she led us in some boot camp style works outs. It was super fun. Perhaps I'll consider it as a side job, hehe!
A few hours later Bethany, Bekah, and their friend Dani drove down to spend the day with us. We went to the Padres game to see the Pads take back first place from the Giants. (Although the Giants are currently beating the Padres 6-1 and it looks like we will have to share that first place spot once again).
After the game we drove to City Fest, an all-day music, sports, food and fun event with Luis Palau. It was so awesome to see all these people from San Diego at a Christian event. The only downside was it took us 2 hours to find parking. So we missed a lot of the day-time stuff, but we were still able to enjoy some yummy food and music! Look what we found there:
The girls got some yogurt and Ernie and I shared a frozen strawberry lemonade and some kettle corn! We walked around to look at all the booths and listen to Luis Palau and his son, Andrew speak about Jesus. The highlight of the event was definitely the Newsboys! They are one of my favorite Christian bands from high school. We were hoping they'd play some old favorites of ours and maybe even some DC Talk, since their new lead singer is Michael Tait from DC Talk. Unfortunately, the only old stuff we got was a short medley of "Shine" and "Breakfast." I'll just have to listen to my favorite songs on itunes or bust out my old cds. Here we are enjoying the music anyways:
